In 2019, Book World organized a discussion in which two Nobel Prize winners took part: Herta Müller and Mario Vargas Llosa. The debate between these two prominent writers and "engaged authors" was called "Literature as the voice of freedom." In this spirit, and also as an acknowledgment of the tradition of dissident literature in the Czech Republic, Book World has a specific program section, entitled "Literature as the Voice of Freedom".
The aim of the fair is to offer a public tribune to authors fighting for freedom within this section. Asylum and support can be found in the pursuit of all kinds of freedom, from political dissidents to unorthodox thinkers, from fighters for gender equality to controversial writers.
