The literary programme entitled Das Buch: Contemporary German-Language Literature is prepared by the Goethe-Institut, the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Czech Republic. This year’s seventeenth edition of this programme series, which is also the guest of honour of the fair, traditionally features meetings with authors, presents new translations of their books and also focuses on the reception of Franz Kafka’s work. The Das Buch booth offers a selection of German-language books and textbooks the visitors can buy, promotes foreign support of translations and also features a children’s corner and a café.

In addition to political and economic diplomacy, the embassy is also active in the area of culture. Every year, it invites writers to Book World Prague as part of the Das Buch literary programme which promotes contemporary German-language literature. The embassy also organizes other cultural events and supports Swiss-related projects in the Czech Republic.
