Czech Hungarian scholar living in Budapest graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, and the Faculty of Arts, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. He has lived in Hungary since the 1970s. He is a former journalist, radio editor, Budapest correspondent for various Czech and Slovak media in the 1990s, currently working as a freelance translator, interpreter, editor and publicist. He translates Hungarian prose and poetry into Czech and is also involved in the popularization of Czech culture in Hungary. Winner of the Magnesia Litera award and the Josef Jungmann Award for the translation of Péter Esterházy’s novel Harmonia caelestis. This year’s fair will present two collections of poetry he translated (Borbála Szabó – Dániel Varró: Lyříček a Epička (Lyric and Epic) and Zita Izsó: Oplocený les (Fenced Forrest).
