Aleksander Kaczorowski is a Polish Czech studies scholar, journalist and translator. For his biography of Ota Pavel, he was nominated for the Nike Literary Award (2019). Besides that, he is the author of biographies of Václav Havel and Bohumil Hrabal. His most recent books are a biography of Isaac Babel (2023), an interview with the former president of Poland Aleksander Kwaśniewski (2023) and an essayistic guide to the Czech history, culture and way of life Czechy. You Couldn’t Make It Up (Czechy. To nevymysliś, 2024). He is also the editor-in-chief of Aspen Review Central Europe, published by the Aspen Institute Central Europe, and a member of the Committee for Editorial Independence of the Economia media house. He was the deputy editor-in-chief of Newsweek Polska and the editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza’s journalism section.
