Octavian Soviany

Born in Brașov, Octavian Soviany is a titan of Romanian letters, excelling as a poet, novelist, critic, and translator. After studying at Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest, he debuted in 1983 and has since published dozens of works, including The Suave Apocalypse and The Life of Kostas Venetis. A prolific translator, he has rendered French masters like Baudelaire and Rimbaud into Romanian. His work has a vast international reach, appearing in over ten languages. Crucially, his presence in the Czech Republic was consolidated in 2026 with the publication of The Little Saturnian, titled Mladý Bolestin by Malvern Publishing and translated by Jiři Našinec. Other works, such as The Powder, the Dust, and the Revolution, have also seen successful translations in neighboring regions like Slovenia and Bulgaria.
