Justyna Sawicka works at the Institute of Urban Culture in Gdańsk as Head of the Literary Department, where she is responsible for events including European Poet of Freedom, the Found in Translation festival, the Schopenhauer Festival and the Festival of Children's Literature, as well as activities connected with the international poetry platform Versopolis, established to support young creators and promote their poetry abroad. As a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Gdańsk, she studied the motif of death and the notion of loss in picture books for children, as well as the transgression of cultural taboos.
