Robert Zola Christensen

Robert Zola Christensen (born 1964) is a Danish novelist, short story writer, author of nonfiction and children’s books, and screenwriter. His works have been translated into German, French, Russian, English, Serbian, Swedish, and, from 2026, Czech. He holds a PhD in Scandinavian Studies and is an Associate Professor at Lund University. His writing spans a wide range of genres, from early novels such as Kristinas tavshed to the critically acclaimed Aldrig så jeg så dejligt et bjerg. He is also the author of the influential creative writing guide Manual til skrivekunsten (2005), widely used in Danish literary education. Christensen’s style is characterized by linguistic sensitivity, humor, and an interest in the boundaries between reality and fiction. He has also played a significant role in Danish film culture as a consultant and idea developer.
