Renato Cisneros

Renato Cisneros is a Peruvian writer and journalist. He has worked as a reporter, columnist, and host of radio and television programs in Peru. Before turning to fiction, he published three poetry collections.
His novel La distancia que nos separa (The Distance That Separates Us), translated into several languages and published in more than eleven editions, was a finalist at the II Mario Vargas Llosa Novel Biennial and was also nominated for the French Prix Medicis. The English edition of the novel received the English PEN Award (2018).
For Dejarás la Tierra (You Shall Leave the Earth), he received a special mention at the 2018 Premio Nacional de Literatura, while his memoir of fatherhood, Algún día te mostraré el desierto (One Day I Will Show You the Desert), won the Luces Award for Best Non-Fiction Book of 2019.
His most recent novel, El mundo que vimos arder (Alfaguara, 2023), was published in Peru, across Latin America, and in Spain. It was a finalist for the 2023 Alfaguara Prize and has been translated into English and Portuguese.
He currently lives in Madrid, where he teaches creative writing and is working on his next novel.
