Rodrigo Blanco Calderón

Rodrigo Blanco Calderón (born 1981) is a Venezuelan writer living in exile. He is considered one of the most talented contemporary prose authors. He has published numerous works, including the short story collection Sacrifices and the novels The Night and Simpatía. He has received multiple awards for his work both in Venezuela and internationally. In 2007 he was named to the Bogotá39 list, an annual selection of the best Latin American writers under forty. His debut novel The Night (translated into English by Daniel Hahn and Noel Hernández González and published by Seven Stories Press) has been translated into several languages. His second novel, Simpatía (also translated into English by Daniel Hahn and Noel Hernández González), was longlisted for the 2024 International Booker Prize.
