Andrej Longo

Andrej Longo was born in 1959 on Ischia, and his work is closely linked to Naples and the surrounding islands. He studied at the prestigious DAMS in Bologna and subsequently tried many jobs, from lifeguard to pizza chef. In 2002, he made his debut as a writer with a collection of short stories Più o meno alle tre (Approximately at Three), in which he captured the Naples' population at the moment of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. This was followed by the novel Adelante, depicting the harsh practices of the Neapolitan Camorra, winner of the Premio nazionale letterario Pisa. Longo's most successful title is the short story collection Dieci (2007, Ten), winner of the prestigious Premio Bagutta and several other awards.
