Guest of the book fair Svět knihy Praha 2025
Madalena is a Portuguese illustrator from Lisbon. In 1999 she founded the Planeta Tangerina publishing house together with her friends. At first it was a creative studio, but since 2004 the studio started an editorial activity where the illustrated book represents a space full of possibilities, an object of research and experimentation and encounters with different readers. In her projects, Madalena focuses on exploring the relationship between word and image. She is interested in how these two codes interact and how they can create dialogue, humour, tension and ambiguity. Her work has repeatedly won national awards for illustration and honourable mentions at the Bologna Book Fair.
