Portugal
Guest of the book fair
The Portuguese author, who moves across literary genres, is known for his original and highly innovative and creative approach to language. He has won major literary awards in Portugal and abroad, such as the 2010 Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger for his work Aprender a rezar na Era da Técnica. His books have been adapted for theatre and film as well as other art forms such as dance, visual arts and many more. Among other things, Tavares is also the author of the book series O Bairro, where literary greats come to life to inhabit a fictional neighbourhood in short stories full of humour, satire and philosophy. One of the author’s most acclaimed works, Jerusalém, will be published this year in a Czech translation by Lada Weissová.
