Guest of the book fair
Mariusz Szczygieł is one of the most influential figures of the so-called Polish school of literary reportage. His best-known book Gottland: Mostly True Stories from Half of Czechoslovakia became a bestseller, and it earned him several prestigious awards. The book was translated into many languages and has been adapted for theatre and for a film. His other works are no less successful, the book Nie ma, in which he reflects on various kinds of lossess and different ways to deal with them – it earned him the Nike Literary Award as well as the Nike Readers’ Award in 2019. His last book translated to Czech, Fakta musí zatančit (Fakty muszą zatańczyć), is the author’s love letter to the genre of literary reportage, in which he offers readers a distinctive outlook on the history and creative process of this genre.
