László Tóth is a Hungarian poet, writer, translator and editor, and a winner of The Attila József Prize. He was born in Budapest, but in 1954 after his father’s death he moved to Slovakia with his mother. From 1986 to 2006 he lived in Hungary again. He began his literary career as a poet, and although his work often entered the realms of other literary genres, the backbone of his writing remained poetry. Wittgenstein szóvivője (transl. Tomáš Vašut, Malvern 2024) contains a selection of poems written in the last thirty years of his poetic work. He often translated Czech, Slovak or Polish poems into Hungarian.
