Guest of the book fair
Zsolt Kácsor is a Hungarian author and journalist. In his articles and books, he shows remarkable sensitivity to social issues. He regularly posts on the most important forums concerning public life. In 2000–2016 he worked in the Népszabadság newspaper. He released six novels. In his book Gypsy Moses (Cigány Mózes, Czech translation by Robert Svoboda, Protimluv 2024) he borrows the structure of the five books of Moses, combines fiction, fairytales, folktales and captivating stories, with which he creates the new Genesis, a legend about the origin of the Gypsies. Archaic stories are combined with modern ones, old language with the one of today, fantasy with reality. The novel was inspired by a series of murders of the Roma that shocked the Hungarian public in 2008–2009.
