An acclaimed Argentine-Spanish writer. She has published numerous novels, short stories, and poems that explore themes of absurdity, eroticism, and social critique. Her first novel, Muerta de hambre, won the National Arts Fund First Novel Prize in 2004. Among her most notable works are La piel dura, Sulfuro, Nación vacuna, and Cómo usar un cuchillo. Her writings have been translated into several languages, including French, English, Italian, Portuguese, and Swedish. They have been published in various countries across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. García Lao’s distinctive voice and innovative narrative techniques have established her as a significant reference in contemporary Latin American literature. She currently resides in Barcelona.
