Ivana Taranenková

Senior researcher and director of the Institute of Slovak Literature of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. Her main areas of interest are literary criticism, the history of 19th-century Slovak literature, contemporary Slovak writing, and problems of national and cultural identity. She is the author of the book Fenomén Vajanský (The Vajanský Phenomenon, 2010) and numerous journal articles on literary history and contemporary literature. She is also the co-editor and co-author of the collection of essays on Slovak literature Home and the World in Slovak Writing: A Small Nation’s Literature in Context (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2025) and the co-editor of the forthcoming volume Memory and Womens Life Writing in Post-Communist Europe: East-West Perceptions (Routledge).
