The French filmmaker and writer Ruth Zylberman (*1971) has made numerous documentaries and published her first novel La Direction de l'absent in 2015. Her work reflects a relationship to Central European history: her documentary Dissidents, les artisans de la liberté (2009) was dedicated to Václav Havel, while Le procès - Prague 1952 (2021) was dedicated to the convicts Rudolf Slánský, Artur London and Rudolf Margoli. Her documentary Les Enfants du 209 rue Saint-Maur, Paris Xe (2018) served as a draft for a novel published in 2020. The film and the book have gained considerable popularity among professionals and readers. A Czech translation of 209 rue Saint-Maur, Paris Xe. Autobiographie d'un immeuble was published by Marathon in 2024 under the title Autobiografie jednoho pařížského domu.
