Olga Tokarczuk is one of the most popular and highly acclaimed contemporary Polish writers. Her books have been translated into more than fifty languages. She achieved international success with her third book, Prehistory and Other Times. Her thriller Drive Your Wagon and Plough Over the Bones of the Dead was made into a film by director Agnieszka Holland. She won Poland’s most prestigious literary prize, the Nike Literary Award, for her novels The Runners and The Books of Jakub, and the International Booker Prize for The Runners. In 2018, she received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Most of Olga Tokarczuk’s books have been translated into Czech by Petr Vidlák.
