Chi Ta-wei graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at the National Taiwan University and then moved to the United States of America, where he earned a PhD in Comparative Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He currently teaches in Taiwan at the National Chengchi University and researches homosexuality and history of queer literature.
