Thomas Markmann

The Danish playwright and novelist, winner of the Reumert Award for best playwright of the year, grew up in a small town. Before he became a playwright, he worked as a handyman and actor at Middelaldercentret in Nycøbing Falster. In 2004 he published his first play Den Ansvarlige and a year after another play Vildskud (published by Drama). In 2007 he took a course in creative writing and playwriting at Dramatiker Væksthus. After that he started his playwriting career at Aarhus Teater. He wrote dozens of plays that are also staged in many other Danish theatres. His first work published in Czech is Chlapec, který snil o stavu beztíže (Malvern, 2025, original: Drengen der ville være vægtløs).
