Jean Findlay comes from Edinburgh. After studying law and French at the University of Edinburgh, she took up theatre. She cofounded an award-winning theatre company and has written and directed plays, which toured to London, Berlin, Bonn, Rotterdam, Dublin, Glasgow and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. She writes theatre and book reviews for the Scotsman and contributes to other prestigious British periodicals. Her book Chasing Lost Time won the Hyam Wingate, Authors Foundation Award and was shortlisted for the Alistair Horne Fellowship at Oxford University. In 2014 she founded Scotland Street Press, which she now runs. She lives in Scotland with her husband and six children.
