Slovakia
Guest of the book fair
This Slovak author comes from eastern Slovakia, from a town just below the Spiš Castle. Besides sinology, which she studied at Charles University in Prague, folklore has also won her heart. She has performed in the singing group Rusínske trio and also leads her own folklore group, which has been active in the Spiš region for almost a decade. Her adventures from her travels to China and Taiwan are mapped out in the book Cat’s Fur Coat and a Camel at The Great Wall of China. Readers can explore South Korea, where Dominika even lived, in the book Korean Gnocchi. She also writes about her experiences from the Far East, which she first published on her blog, on her Instagram account @dominika.sakmarova. She currently lives with her family in Bucharest, Romania.
