Alexandra Lapierre

This French writer studied literature at the Sorbonne. She is the author of books mostly based on painstaking and laborious research in archives and libraries. Her domain is biographical novels (e.g. the life of Isabel Barreto, the only female admiral of the Spanish army during Spanish conquests, Fanny Stevenson, the wife of the famous writer R. L. Stevenson or the life of Moura Budberg, the Ukrainian noblewoman who became the love of a British secret agent, the muse of Maxim Gorky during the Bolshevik Revolution and the last partner of H. G. Wells). She is the author of 15 novels, for which she has won numerous literary awards. The novel Belle Greene deals with the life of an admirably strong and determined woman torn between her love for her family and her roots and her desire to live up to her own ideas, abilities and talents.
