Jenny Colgan was born in Prestwick, Scotland and educated at the University of Edinburgh. She worked in health service, made some extra money as a comic book artist and performed as a solo comedian. She wrote her first book, Amanda’s Wedding, in 2010 and has since been writing humorous romance novels, which appeal particularly to today’s young modern women. In 2013, her book Welcome to Rosie Hopkins’ Sweet Shop of Dreams won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award from the Romantic Novelists’s Association. She also writes science fiction. She is the author of one series of the popular Dr. Who series. Her romantic stories Five Hundred Miles from You, The Christmas Bookshop, The Cafe by the Sea, etc., set in quaint shops, cafés and tucked-away bookshops, are devoured by readers from all over the world.
