Guest of the book fair
The German writer Verena Kessler is originally from Hamburg and currently lives in Leipzig, where she also studied German literature. She introduced herself with her first novel Die Gespenster von Demmin (The Ghosts of Demmin, 2020). In her second novel, Eva (2023), she tells in a captivating style the story of four women, in many ways very different, who seek their own answers to the question of what motherhood means in today’s world. Would it be better if they stopped having more children?
