Lars Mytting

This Norwegian writer started his career as a journalist and editor. His non-fiction book Norwegian Wood (Hel ved, 2011) about the art and craft of handling wood for heating became an international bestseller. Mytting is foremost known as an author of historical novels, in which he makes good use of old Norwegian myths, legends and regional historical materials. These novels are connected to the valley of Gudbrandsdalen, the region he comes from, however, they also take place in other places of Europe. His highly acclaimed novel The Sixteen Trees of the Somme (2014) was published in Czech in 2022. The translation of the novel The Bell in the Lake (2018), the first book in the trilogy from the remote village of Hekne, was published in 2024.
