The Austrian cartoonist and illustrator Nicolas Mahler is known to Czech readers as the author of comic adaptations of famous literary works (Bernhard’s Old Masters, Musil’s The Man Without Qualities) or as the co-creator of the comic Night Walkers, which he published together with Jaroslav Rudiš. Mahler is the author of an extensive and respected body of work that includes over three dozen books as well as countless contributions to newspapers and magazines, for which he began drawing after graduating from high school. Several of Mahler’s books have been adapted as animated films or puppet plays. Among other things, Nicolas Mahler is a three-time winner of the prestigious Max & Moritz Prize for the best comic strip in the German language. In Prague he will present a Czech translation of the minimalist comic biography of Franz Kafka Completely Kafka: A Comic Biography.
