Reiner Stach

The German literary scholar and writer prepared the exhibition Kafka’s Bride in 1999, based on the estate of Felice Bauer, Franz Kafka’s fiancée. Stach then wrote Kafka’s three-part biography. The third part, entitled Kafka: the Early Years, was shortlisted for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize 2015 and won the Bavarian Book Prize. In 2016, he was awarded the Joseph Breitbach Prize for his outstanding work in literary biography. Together with the publishing house S. Fischer Verlag, he conceived the world’s most visited Kafkaesque website franzkafka.de. He is currently advising the ARD broadcaste on a television series about Franz Kafka. The three-volume biography of Kafka has been published in Czech translation by Argo.
