Maylis de Kerangal published her first novels in the 2000s (Je marche sous un ciel de traîne in 2000, La Vie voyageuse in 2003, Ni fleurs, ni couronnes in 2006, Dans les rapides in 2007 and Corniche Kennedy in 2008), beforebeing unanimously awarded the Prix Médicis in 2010 for her novel Birth of a Bridge (Naissance d'un pont). After winning the Prix Landerneau two years later for her novel Tangente vers l'est (Eastbound), she became, in 2014, the first winner of the Roman des étudiants France Culture-Télérama for her novel Mend the Living (Réparer les vivants), which has won numerous French literary awards. Adapted for the stage by Emmanuel Noblet in 2015 and for the cinema by Katell Quillévéré in 2016, the novel has already been translated in more than thirty countries and into thirteen languages. Its translation into Czech (Život za život) was published in March 2023 by the publishing house Maraton. Maylis de Kerangal’s body of work as a whole has been awarded the Grand Prix de Littérature Henri-Gal by the Académie Française in 2014.
