Michael Stavarič’s greatest wish is to travel the whole universe and breathe underwater: this Austrian author, born in Brno in 1972, fascinates with his imagination and adventure stories. He often works on several texts simultaneously, whether in the form of novels, poems or children’s books. This versatility reflects his approach to the world: he is curious and questioning. Last year, he published a novel, Das Phantom, and a collection of poems, Die Suche nach dem Ende der Dunkelheit. For his popular science book Amazing Octopus, which will be published in Czech translation in spring 2024, Michael Stavarič won the Austrian Children and Youth Book Prize in 2022 – for the fourth time. He has also produced books about jellyfish and sharks (Amazing Jellyfish, Amazing Sharks) in a similar format.
