Liu Ka-shiang is a contemporary Taiwan poet, essayist, author of children’s and educational literature, journalist and environmental activist writing in Chinese. He was born in 1957 in Taiwan. He studied journalism at the Chinese Culture University in Taipei. Later, he worked in Taipei as a journalist for The China Times. He won numerous awards for his work in Taiwan, e.g., the Taiwan Contemporary Poetry Award (1984), The Bamboo Hat Award (1984), Wu San-Lien Award (1993), United Daily Best Book Award (1995) or United Daily Best Children’s Book Award (1998).
