As an adult, this British author quickly discovered that his only talent was writing and quite rapidly established himself as a television writer. He worked on the famous British series Doctor Who and the low-budget space soap opera Jupiter Moon and later also on the book adventures of Doctor Who. In the 1990s he published several novels in the Doctor Who series: Remembrance of the Daleks, Transit, The Also People and So Vile a Sin. However, in the second half of the 1990s, his literary career hit a dead end and he took a job at Waterstones which turned out to be the perfect opportunity to start writing his own stories. Thus, a successful urban fantasy series with police constable Peter Grant was born.
