Uladzimir Arlov (Уладзімір Арлоў) is a novelist, poet and historian. He graduated from the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University in Minsk. He worked as a teacher, journalist and publishing editor. He published the first texts in a student “samizdat”, which earned him the attention of the KGB. Author of many books of prose, poetry and historical essays. His works have been translated into several European languages, including Czech. Winner of a number of independent domestic and international literary awards, such as the European Poet of Freedom (Poland, 2010), Aleko (Bulgaria, 2016) and the Jerzy Giedroyce Award for the best Belarusian prose book of the year (2018).
