He is a French writer and traveller. After studying at the Lycée Chateaubriand in Rennes and then at the ENS in Fontenay/Saint-Cloud, Nicolas Deleau spent fifteen months in the Kerguelen Islands as part of his national service. In 2004, he taught literature at the French high school in Luanda (Angola) and then in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). In 2006, he published La dent d’orque et autres voyages autour de mes bibelots, a collection of stories from his travels and his own illustrations. In 2012, he moved to Pondicherry and published his first novel Les rois d’ailleurs (Grasset publishing house).
