Edina Szvoren

Edina Szvoren (Budapešť, 1974) studied at the Franz Liszt Musical Academy in Budapest to become a choirmaster. Now she teaches music theory at the Béla Bartók Secondary and Grammar School for Music, where she also studied. Music is often the topic of her short stories. Her prosaic texts have been published regularly since 2005 – to date she has published three short-story collections. Szvoren is the laureate of, among other, the Tibor Déry, Sándor Bródy and Attila József awards and the Artisjus Prize. For her second collection entitled Nincs, és ne is legyen (Serves Her Right She Ain’t Got Any) she has received the 2015 European Union’s Prize for Literature. The book was published in Czech by Bourdon publishers with support from the European Union, translated by Robert Svoboda.
