Taňa Skarynkina

Tanya Skarynkina (Таня Скарынкіна). She graduated from the Agricultural Academy in Horky. Outside Belarus, she lived in Portugal for several years. She worked at the post office, then as an illustrator of children’s books, a journalist and currently she makes a living as a columnist. She writes in Russian and Belarusian. Her first book of poetry was published in 2013 under the title Book for Reading Indoors and Beyond (Книга для чтения в момещениях и вне помещений), followed by the poetry collections Portuguese Trinity (Португальские трихишишиши, 2018), Rollercoaster (Американские горки, 2018) and And all threw away knives (И все побросали ножи, 2020). For the last collection published in Moscow she received the prestigious Andrey Bely Award. She also published essay books written in Belarusian: Much Czeslav Milos, a Little Elvis Presley (Шмат Чэслава Мілаша, крыху Элвіса Прэслі, 2014) also published in English and in her own Russian translation (the Belarusian original was shortlisted for the most prestigious Belarusian literary award of Jerzy Giedroyce), and most recently The District City (Райцэнтр, 2021)
